The Organisation:

The Equality Diversity and Inclusion Internship offers an opportunity for someone to gain experience in different aspects of EDI whilst learning more about the work of our wider teams, such as marketing and HR.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has an interest in and a passion for equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

Main Purpose of Role:

To support the EDI Manager with providing support, knowledge, and advice about developments in equality legislation and diversity and inclusion best practice. To contribute to the delivery of equality, diversity and inclusion projects and initiatives across the University and associated recognition schemes.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Provide support to the EDI Manager across our EDI Strategy, action plans and major projects to ensure our work has real impact.
• Co-ordinating activity to support equality charter marks, including collating evidence to support submissions, liaising with self-assessment teams and maintaining Microsoft Teams sites.
• To provide administrative support for EDI activity including answering queries, arranging meetings (including networks) and supporting committees.
• To contribute to the development of EDI policies and good practice by undertaking desktop research on existing policies and practice in other organisations.
• Co-ordinating, maintaining and assisting in the development and delivery of the progressive EDI training and awareness programme and support colleagues in the organisational development team with the admin of our EDI initiatives.
• Work with colleagues to manage the EDI calendar of events throughout the year, maximising interest and engagement across the institution
• Design internal marketing communications to promote and engage with our people and drive interest and engagement in our programmes and initiatives.
• Maintain the EDI SharePoint hub of resources with up to date and relevant information.
• Conduct research activities in the EDI space.
• Work with the finance team to ensure suppliers are set up and paid.
• To help produce high-quality EDI materials and resources such as presentations, guidance documents, and leaflets.
• Maintain the EDI webpages with Digital Marketing Support.
• Support the staff networks and network chairs
• Attend the University’s EDISRG as required.
• Carry out any other duties which may, from time to time, be reasonably requested within the grade and level of responsibility of the post
