North East Workforce Skills Programme is a European Social Fund (ESF) project, delivered by a consortium of Further and Higher Education providers in the North East, led by the University of Sunderland. The overall project is worth £14,862,142 in total and aims to support more than 17,500 employees across the Tyne and Wear and Northumberland area, by September 2023, through highly tailored training and development solutions for businesses, from learning basic skills right up to degree level. The University of Sunderland is not only the consortium lead but the largest delivery partner within the project.

Main Purpose of Role:

The role is essential to managing the Universities provision within the wider ESF project. The ability to manage a team of staff responsible for the administration of each programme within the portfolio and ensuring all project criteria is met is essential. The individual must therefore have a high level of project management and process development experience and be confident to hit the ground running.

This role will be a key role in the delivery of our ESF Workforce Development Skills project and will be working across a wide CPD portfolio to manage the delivery of provision and the administration support for the University of Sunderland as a delivery partner. The role is based within the Work Based Learning team, a team who has grown substantially over the last 3 years and offer a huge range of exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunities as we continue to grow our provision.

The candidate needs to be dynamic, hardworking and a self-starter, as well as having the ability to undertake the role successfully. The post holder will be required to work under their own initiative and will have a range of different strands of the project so multi-tasking is essential. Due to the commercial nature of the project maintaining a high level of customer service and attention to detail is non-negotiable.

The role will manage all aspects of delivery of a circa £6m ESF funded project.
Including:
• Leveraging maximum project value for the University as a delivery partner
• Ensuring the project achieves all outputs within financial profile
